Creating Persistent Links (PURLS) for Articles

PURLS allow faculty to create links directly to articles they find in databases available from the North Hall Library. These links can then be posted online, in BlackBoard, or emailed to students. By using the PURLS created by this page, you can ensure that students off campus can access the article. As a bonus, if you provide the link in your BlackBoard course, the students won't have to enter their 18-digit barcode number.

Creating PURLS is easy. Copy information from the database and enter it into the Link-a-tizer. Paste the results online for students to access. Use the chart below to determine what information you should copy from the database.

Link-a-tizer

Paste the information from the database in the blank below, and click on 'Link-a-tize Me!' to get your own link.

***** The Linkatizer is no longer needed for links to EBSCOhost, InfoTrac, ProQuest or WilsonWeb in BlackBoard*****
Existing Linkatizer links should still work.
