RILM Abstracts of Music Literature
Abstracts of scholarly writings on music as well as music-related disciplines in over 140 languages dating from 1967 through the present. Includes dissertations.

Music Index
Citations for articles from over 655 international music journals. Includes dissertations.

To tell whether an article is available full text or in the library, use the Journals List.

• Use PILOT to find books, videos, scores, CDs and other materials in our Library, but not journal articles.
• Use Author/Title/Subject search to browse authors, titles, and subject headings.
• Use Guided Keyword to search for keywords anywhere.

To look for books that are not owned by the North Hall Library:

• Amazon.com is also a good place to find books that are in print.
• Borrow the titles you find through E-ZBorrow or the Library's Interlibrary Loan Service.

New Grove Online
This online music encyclopedia brings together The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musician, New Grove Jazz, and New Grove Opera. It's a great place to start your research. Remember: The author of each article is listed at the end of the article.

RILM Abstracts of Music Literature
Use RILM to find both doctoral and non-doctoral dissertations. Use the Advanced Search to limit the Document Type to "All Dissertations".

Music Index
Music Index contains citations, not abstracts, from Dissertation Abstracts International, a journal containing abstracts of dissertations. To interlibrary loan dissertations you find in Music Index, use the "Dissertations" Interlibrary Loan form on the ILL page.

If you don't find an appropriate dissertation citation, go to the Information Desk. Any of the librarians can help you do a special database search for dissertations.
