  • The North Hall Library is a great place to go in the summer. We have expanded our summer evening hours on Mondays and Tuesdays to better serve your needs. To check out any of our hours:
  • The North Hall Library has purchased available films from the American Film Institute's list of 100 best films. The films are available at the North Hall Library. All videos and DVDs are located in the curriculum library on 1st floor North. You can check PILOT to see if items on the list are currently checked in.
  • Check out our Popular Reading Area on the 2 nd Floor of the North Hall Library. We have best-selling books, several newspapers and magazines, and audio books.

  • Contemporary World Music
  • Smithsonian Global Sound
Just click on Databases & then on Music.  You'll also find new music reference materials there including lyrics, scores, and world cultures.

•  More full-text online journals!  We've just added Project MUSE, a collection of 380 quality scholarly Humanities & Social Science journals.

•  Effective Monday, March 17, 2008,  Dr. Jennifer Post began a leave of absence and will be out through the next academic year.  She has been presented with a unique opportunity that is a terrific match for her research interests. Please join us in wishing her the best in this venture.  Frances Garrison will be coordinating Jennifer's liaison duties while she is gone.

•  Joining our staff is Nichole Book. She is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in Art History and Museum Studies from Juniata College in 2000.  Recently she moved to the area from State College Pennsylvania where she was the manager of an art gallery and frame shop.  In her spare time she enjoys the outdoors including hiking, camping, kayaking and canoeing and is an avid baseball fan.

•  We have had several changes to our faculty and staff:  Jamey Harris – has been hired as our Coordinator of Technical Services. Pam Achey is now our Cataloging Technician & David Guinn is now our Serials/ Archives Technician. Nichole Book is now a Reference Assistant.  Tim Seymour also has joined our team as Library Systems Administrator.

•  Check out the great collection of audio books we have in the popular reading area. We have many classic works, including the complete works of Shakespeare. Additionally, we have several children's classics.

•  Check out some of our collections that you might not have noticed or that are new:  Graphic novels; the newly expanded poetry collection, or our CD's.  Also, we have a great collection of Audio books.

•  A new leadership display case has been erected in the lobby area.  "Watch as new items fill it...."

Ref Works. RefWorks is a web-based tool for storing, organizing, sharing, and formatting bibliographies, reference lists, and works cited. This tool is available to all MU students and employees and can be accessed from the library website or directly at: http://lib.mansfield.edu/asp/db.asp?db=refworks 

Bandwidth Triples.   Campus Technologies announced that network bandwidth to off-campus locations has been tripled to 65Mbs to address the increased processing of our students and faculty in reaching off-campus locations.  . Services provided off campus such as BlackBoard, library databases and other instructional materials, internet access, and student email will see a performance boost as a result.

April Case - Library System’s Administrator, has resigned from the University to accept another position.  Lynn Stroud – Library Technician, and Les Achey – Cataloging Librarian, have both retired.  

Two new members to the have been added to Library  - Dr. Jennifer Post, Music Librarian and David Guinn, Library Assistant.  Please join us in welcoming them to the University.  - September 2007

In response to the needs and wants of our patrons we have added some New Online Databases.  They include: The Wall Street Journal ; Grove Dictionary of Art ; and JSTOR – Arts & Sciences II

The Library has installed brand new Dell Precision Workstations on floors 1-3.  These machines are the latest technology and include more processing power and memory, the latest software packages and are topped off with new flat panel monitors.

Archives Display
The next time you’re on the 3rd or 4th floor, take a moment to view the Archives Displays located in the Atrium. On 3rd Floor North Hall Library - The leadership display featuring select alumni that have served the Commonwealth was created by our very own Library and Information Resources Division Archives Committee: Les Achey, Holly Loganbill and Sylvia Yamashita. The two displays on 4th Floor North Hall Library – were created by Steve Orner of the facilities department. - 09/20/2007

 

Refreshments for Finals Week: To help alleviate some of the stress you may be feeling during finals week, the Library will have snacks & refreshments available to students on Monday, May 7th @ 8:30 PM in the first floor Atrium of the Library.  Feel free to stop in & fuel up before hitting the books. - 05/24/2007
