Fiction, including children's fiction, does not usually carry subject headings. To find a children's story book then, you could either:

Indexes over 1500 journals and provides full-text for 750 journals, over 100 books, and conference papers.
ERIC
Indexes over 1000 journals as well as the ERIC documents collection from 1966-present. Includes the ERIC Thesaurus to help you select search terms. ERIC documents include curriculum guides, lesson plans, and activities. One good way to find activities in the ERIC database is to type in your specific topic (use a descriptor if possible) and AND it with ACTIVIT*. The newer documents are online, while older documents can be located on microfiche on 3rd floor east.
To find magazine articles for elementary-junior high school age students, search EBSCOhost's EBSCOhost's Primary Search and/or EBSCOhost's Middle Search Plus.

From within any of the EBSCOhost databases click on image collection to search for pictures.
